How Your Awning is Made
Discover how your awning is manufactured to your exact specification
As soon as you have placed your order with Thomas Sanderson, and your surveyor has completed the technical survey – we are busy at our National Distribution Centre in Coventry, processing and coordinating every aspect of your awning from the fabric all the way to the bespoke bracketry, to ensure your order is managed efficiently and that your awning is manufactured to the highest standards.
Every year, Thomas Sanderson supply thousands of awnings across the country, here’s a step by step journey that an awning takes before being despatched to our installation team.
- Your awning fabric is picked out by hand from the 200 strong range and checked for any fabric flaws or faults.
- Your chosen fabric is then cut using a computer guided hot knife.
- At the same time your awning valance is cut. If you choose a scalloped finish to your valance, this is cut by hand by a team of experts.
- At the same time, your awning components begin being assembled and precision cut to the exact dimensions that are required.
- Your awning’s motors, lighting and heating are all collected.
- By this point, your fabric is being machine stitched, or in the case of some of fabrics, it is welded together using lasers.
- State-of-the-art machinery will saw each piece of awning hardware to the exact millimetre.
- All of your awning components and fabric come together in the assembly area as each piece is carefully put together by hand, whilst being fixed to specialist racking which allows for a flawless assembly and quality control.
- The state of the art motors are then inserted and the fully completed awning is calibrated and performance tested.
- Your completed awning is despatched to our National Distribution Centre for a final check before being sent to your local installation team.
And finally, at a convenient time your patio awning is then installed with the minimum of fuss and disruption and within a matter of hours you can sit back, relax and enjoy your brand new awning.
